GRIEVANCES - We will list current grievances and their status. For apparent reasons there may not be names or some personal information listed. If you feel you have the need to file a grievance or have a question about grievances contact your local officers. LCSH indicates repair center and 00 indicates OSP.  As of 07' all northwest grievances start with O, then the year, then the grievance number within that year.  They are no longer seperated by inside or outside.

Grievance # O-06-01 - Contracting of work, all classifications, all districts. This has been met on at first level and denied. Second level meeting is Tuesday, Feb. 28th. Company requested extension for data gathering and the fact that things are so busy with the conversion to new company-granted. May 17th, grievance denied 2nd level. 3rd level meeting set for June 27th. At 3rd level it was agreed that this grievance would be placed in abayance to be the main topic of discussion at our first strategic council meeting. The new strategic council is a regional meeting between top managers and union officials. If we can't come to a resolution at that point then the grievance would be re-opened.  First CRC meetings were set up to form the CRC and the rules around it.  Bargaining delayed them again.  Topic still pending discussion at the CRC when it comes back together.

Grievance # O-06-03 - Member had pay taken away for not turning in FMLA papers within 15 days. Several circumstances affected the time line. Appealed through company, appeal lost. First step of the grievance was on 06-20-06. Pending reply.

Denied at 2nd level.  Grievance resolved at 3rd level.  Grievant prevailed, company to pay the wages that had been taken away.

Grievance Closed

Grievance # O-06-02- non member put in final step for first offense on time reporting. 1st step grievance to be on 06-27-06. After company request for time extension, grievance denied at 1st level on 08-29-06.  Pending 2nd level meeting.  Grievance resolved at 2nd level.  company offered to reduce to 1st step written warning to come off the grievants record in November.  Grievant agreed.  Settled, union prevailed.

Grievance Closed

Griev. # 99-0131  This grievance was for a customer care rep who was terminated in 1999.  It has been bouncing around between the company, the union and lawyers for several years.  The grievant was finally offered a lump sum settlement which she felt was acceptable.  She is on to other things and at this point did not wish to come back to work here.

Grievance closed.

Grievance # un-assigned - Member terminated for viewing inappropriate material on company terminal.  First and second step of the grievance denied.  3rd step denied and will not be arbitrated.  Company found to have sufficient documentation and evidence.

Griev. # O-07-03 - Member terminated for PFP in repair center, met on and denied by the company at all three levels, arbitration requested and pending. Arbitration scheduled for June.

Griev. # O-07-03 (#2) - Duplicate number but elected not to change because grievance resolved.  Coast standby schedule.  Resolved because of change in the contract combining titles.  Agreement made to bring a couple of techs up to training levels needed to take standby.
Grievance withdrawn

Griev, # O-08-01 - Repair center 2.9% increase.  Through mis-understanding at negotiations company did not give 2.9% in year one to Repair Reps.  The union is asking that the 2.9% be paid retroactive to January 1, 2008.  Has been met on and is pending 3rd level meeting in early April.  3rd level meeting was held on 4-10-08.  The company is holding firm on their stance.  Pending 3rd level answer from company at his time.  Company denied.  Union decided not enough written evidence to proceed with arbitration.  Very unfortunate situation and the Union will require that all negotiations going forward will have stenographer or tape recorder to ensure this never happens again.  2.9% will be effective Nov. 08.  Grievance closed under protest.

Griev. # O-08-02 - Member given Final Written for argument that took place on company property.  Denied at first and second level, pending third level meeting.  3rd level meeting held on 4-10-08, pending answer from company.  Company denied, arbitration requested.

Griev. # O-08-03 - Coast Vacation Schedule - misunderstanding to how it was to be administered under the new contract language, resolved at 2nd level meeting, agreed to withdraw and re-evaluate if there are problems over the schedule going ahead.
Grievance withdrawn

Griev. # O-08-04  Member terminated for theft of company property (scrap cable).  Request granted to send straight to 3rd level.  Pending 3rd level meeting.  3rd level to be held May 19th.  Denied at 3rd level.  The company showed that they had just cause for termination.  Arbitration requested and denied by District 7.

Griev. # O-08-05  Non-member given written warning for yelling and verbal altercation with another tech.  Company says they had told the non-member not to discuss this particular issue with the other tech.  Denied at 2nd level, pending 3rd level.
